UI Pharmaceuticals (UIP) has validated its new $26M sterile processing facility in the University of Iowa (UI) College of Pharmacy building. It completed its first revenue-generating project in June in the new space, a 16,000-square-foot facility that encompasses the lower level of the College.
UIP, complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), has twin high-capacity fill lines that are fully automated and contained in ISO 5 isolators, a high level of cleanroom standards. Both lines are equipped with TelStar Lyomega 80ST lyophilizers, adding the capability to manufacture larger clinical and commercial batches, which are now being booked through year-end.
UI Pharmaceuticals is a division within the College of Pharmacy that designs, develops, tests, and produces medicines for use in clinical trials to support the development of novel drugs. Its clients include innovative biotech and large pharmaceutical companies, university researchers, and governmental laboratories.
